Global Village (Dubai, UAE)
4:05 AMDreaming of traveling around the world? I do! The only thing is, I am no cabin crew -- who gets the privilege of traveling the world for free -- hence, I would have to spend (a lot of) money in order to make that dream come true. Obviously, I cannot afford that.. So for now, I guess, traveling around the world by foot would do!
Travel the world by foot? Yes, it's possible! How? By visiting the famous Global Village in Dubai, United Arab Emirates! Located on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road Exit 37, this enormous theme park is known to be the largest cultural, entertainment, family and shopping destination in the city.
We actually had this trip two months ago, that was December 2015, so the weather was still pretty cold. Global Village operates only during the months of November to March when the country's temperature is cooler. (Believe me, you wouldn't want to go outdoors during summer at 40 degrees Celsius.)
This tourist attraction is massive, so make sure to wear your most comfortable shoes -- because you'll do A LOT of walking -- and gear yourself up with the proper winter attire -- to keep yourself warm the whole night because temperature can drop to 19 degrees. In addition, do not forget to take note of your parking slot or better yet take a photo of it, for this amusement park has a vast parking area. Trust me, you wouldn't have enough energy and patience anymore to search for your car after spending 4 - 5 hours walking around the village (because that would really be very unfortunate!)
This place can get overly crowded during Fridays, Saturdays, and holidays, so I suggest that you schedule your visit on weekdays. However, since we're traveling all the way from Abu Dhabi, which is approximately 1.5 - 2 hrs from Dubai, we had no choice but to schedule our trip on a weekend.
Global Village has gained its popularity for showcasing a replica of each of the world's famous tourist attractions -- the US' Statue of Liberty, Paris' Eiffel Tower, Italy's Colosseum, and many more ALL IN ONE PLACE! It literally felt like you've traveled the world in just one night! So you cannot blame me for flooding this post with too much photos because really, every corner of this theme park has been absolutely stunning and obviously, instagram worthy!
What I love most about this popular tourist destination is its very affordable (or should I say cheap?) admission fee. Imagine, with just 15 Emirati Dirhams, you'll be able to have an access to the following:
1. Retail outlets and 32 pavilions representing more than 75 countries - each exhibiting a wide variety of local products (similar to a flea market where you can haggle with the price). It's definitely a shop til you drop experience for the ladies!
2. Fantasy Island - has the children's rides, family rides, and thrill rides -- perfect for those looking to experience some adrenaline rush!
3. Restaurants, cafés, and kiosks -where you can indulge over different cuisines to feed your hungry tummy.
4. Live entertainment - watch live concerts, stage shows, stunt shows, cultural shows, and street shows.
5. Dancing fountain show
6. Pyromusical show
Having mentioned all those things, tell me, isn't it the AED 15 entrance fee sooo sulit! No wonder this place is being frequented by locals and tourists because you actually get more than what you pay for! Definitely, another must-visit attraction when in Dubai!
