Griffith, New South Wales

Finally, after a month of hiatus, the second part of our Australian adventure is here!  Sorry if it took me ages to update this blog.. you know, all those hormonal changes during the first trimester of pregnancy are not that easy to deal with.  Good thing, I'm already on my 14th week, which officially marks the second trimester and promises the beginning of better days ahead.  Yey!

Anyway, after exploring the city of Melbourne, our little family went next for a driving escapade to Griffith.  It was both an exciting and nerve-racking experience for us since it was my husband's first time to drive using a car with the steering wheel on the right.  As you all know, Filipinos who are raised in the Philippines are most likely used to left-hand driving as well as driving on the right side of the road.  So driving for the first time in Oz was indeed challenging -- especially when turning right and you have to do a "hook" turn.  It's confusing and crazy and scary, but we managed to survive and gratefully, we arrived at our destination safely.  Thank you, Lord!

Griffith is very far from Melbourne (6 hours if driving by car/ 9 hours if travelling by train) and it's not a popular tourist destination either, so you're probably wondering what the heck are we doing there.  Well, we decided to include this regional city in our itinerary because we wanted to pay my aunt a visit -- she's a nun and has been a missionary in Australia since 1993.  It's not all the time that they actually get the chance to have a relative come to the Land Down Under.  So when we got our visa grant, we excitedly contacted her to schedule our visit!

The last time I saw her was five years ago, just a few months before Ronnie and I got married. I missed her so much and I was really overjoyed to have been given the opportunity to see her once more and spend a few hours of quality time with her.

I remember, when I was a kid, I used to dream of becoming a nun someday, just like her.  She was a great influencer.  So during my primary years, I've always found myself joining the Marian Club and I would try to go to school early to catch the early morning Holy Mass attended by the sisters.  I believed in my heart, I could pass as a nun.  But obviously, God had a different plan for me, and for that, I will forever be grateful!

P.S.  My love, thank you for braving the long drive to Griffith so that I can meet my Tita Siony!  Moreover, thank you for ALWAYS making me happy!  I appreciate every bit of effort you make to CONSISTENTLY make me feel loved. I may not have fulfilled my dream to become a nun, but I just want you to know that I'm contented still 'cause having you is more than a dream come true for me!
