How My Husband and I Celebrated Our Fourth Wedding Anniversary
3:03 AMBackstory: My husband is a very forgetful person. Would you believe there was even a time he lost his car key and the person who found it told us that he actually saw Ronnie's key still inserted at our car door's key hole? (Ronnie doesn't have the remote keyless system because he just finds it as an extra expense -- that's how frugal he is.) I know, that's just crazy!!! It was like my husband's giving away his car to any stranger for FREE! It's a good thing Abu Dhabi is generally a safe city where crime rate is relatively low. Hence, nobody took the interest to take our car. Had this incident happened back in the Philippines, perhaps, we've become victims of carnapping already. The moral of the story: Don't leave a forgetful husband alone, you'll never know what he'll likely to lose next. Lol!
Anyway, I shared you this story to somehow give you an idea of how likely it is for Ronnie to forget things - even the valuable ones, just like his car key. I guess, it's probably a sign of aging or maybe, he's just a very busy person whose mind is always preoccupied with a lot of things. Despite this, he never fails to remember our anniversary and plan for "something" in advance to make the said event extra special.

For our fourth wedding anniversary, Ronnie decided to take our family out for a dinner buffet in Westin Hotel. He picked this place because he knew I have never been here previously. My husband's really like that; he always wants to surprise me with new experiences (travel, food, activity, etc). He loves adventure and the extraordinary. On the other hand, I prefer the safe and the usual. Indeed, we are the exact opposite of the other. Nevertheless, we manage to complement still.
The Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort and Spa is a high-end hotel that has six in-house restaurants namely: Fairways (International), Sacci (Italian), Lemon & Lime (finger food), The Retreat (British), The Lounge (cafe), and Shades (finger food). Given the above options, I guess, it's pretty obvious that our best choice for a "NO FAIL" dining experience would be Fairways. It offers a wide range of International cuisine - Asian, Indian, Arabian, Middle Eastern, and European - perfect for me (who prefers to stick with familiar dishes) and my husband (who loves variety).
It was still a bit early for dinner when we arrived at the hotel, so we opted to explore the property while waiting. We walked around their well-maintained golf course, watched a few golfers play their sport, and grabbed the opportunity to have some photo-op.

Dinner time came and we devoured ourselves with all the mouth-watering dishes our stomachs could take in. You know, buffet means only one thing: EAT ALL YOU CAN! We were so hungry, we never got to take a photo of the entrée and main course. But hey, at least I've got a shot of our dessert, lol!
Fairways also gave us a complimentary anniversary cake. Rafa was so delighted upon seeing a lighted candle in it and thought it was his birthday. Hence, we decided to sing him a "happy birthday" song. Oh, he was very happy indeed!
Before heading home, we saw this traditional Arabian tent at the hotel's lobby. Then it hit me: this country has been a great blessing to our family -- it didn't only provide us with our needs but also gave us the opportunity to travel. My husband still wishes to visit one more country, though, the US. We hope to reunite with my sister-in-law in California, meet some good old friends, explore a few popular tourists spots, New York perhaps (to see the famous Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Empire State Building, etc), and finally drop by any new york guitar center or shop that sells musical instruments to grab some souvenir. (A harmonica sounds like a good idea since Ronnie and Rafa are both musically inclined.) Well, I hope someday we'll be able to cross the USA off our travel bucket list. Till then, I guess, we have to pray hard and work harder to fulfill this dream! *fingers crossed*
