Rafa's Second Birthday at Good Shepherd Orphanage

Before I continue with my travel posts of our family's recent trip to Ilocos Sur, allow me to share with you first another important milestone in Rafa's life -- his SECOND birthday!

Indeed, life's a bliss!  My son had officially entered the dreaded "terrible twos" stage!  And to celebrate this special event, my husband and I, together with my siblings, decided to host a Jollibee Kiddie Party at Good Shepherd Orphanage in Antipolo, Rizal.

This orphanage located along Sumulong highway is also known as "HOME OF LOVE" run by the Missionaries of Charity, a religious congregation founded by Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

Here are some of the photos taken during the said event:

Our birthday celebrant was so excited to try the slide in the orphanage's playground.

Seems like the staff from Jollibee got confused in providing a number 1 candle for my son's second birthday.    On another note, we would like to thank all the people who gifted Rafa these stuffed toys, which we have decided to donate to the kids who attended the party.  Rafa had outgrown these toys already and we believe that sharing them to the kids in the orphanage will be more purposeful than keeping them inside storage boxes.  Thank you for your generosity and kind understanding!

Rafa didn't mind blowing a candle that reads 1 for his second birthday. He loves blowing candles, even the votive candles in churches or the memorial candles in cemeteries.  There's just something in blowing off a candle's light that fascinates him.  So yeah, I'm sure the wrong candle number on his cake is no big deal.

RAFA'S special guests -- Jollibee, Lola Girlie, and Tito Paulus.  Thank you so much, Tita and bunso for celebrating this special day with us!

Everyone that Rafa loves -- in ONE photo!  Yes, that includes Jollibee as well!

RULES we had to obey.  This was the reason why we were not allowed to play loud music during the party and take photos with the kids.  Nevertheless, it was still a meaningful and memorable birthday for Rafa!

On behalf of my family, I would also like to thank the staff of Jollibee Sumulong for making this event possible.  Kudos for a job well done!

It was a simple birthday party -- no fancy decorations, no loud music, and no birthday presents for my Rafa.  Just happy innocent kids enjoying a rare opportunity of partying with people who are complete strangers to them.  And to me, that's worth more than any gift money can buy!  Indeed, "there is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving." (Acts 20:35)

***The Missionaries of Charity sisters strongly believe in the doctrine of Divine Providence, which means God is in complete control of all things -- including their financial needs to support the kids in the orphanage.  On the other hand, I believe the Heavenly Father showers upon us His bountiful blessings so that we can become an instrument of His love to those people in need.  Should you wish to donate anything (in-cash or in-kind) especially during this season of gift-giving, you may visit Home of Love Orphanage at Emerald Hills, Subd., Km.25 Sumulong Highway, Brgy.Sta.Cruz Antipolo City or contact them at 011-632-696-6457.
